Effective student support service provision is grounded in our ability as managers to empower student employees to develop professional competencies, and to actively shape our services to address evolving patron needs. How can managers of student-staff foster motivation, engagement and commitment to part-time work, given competing commitments and challenges? How can we support student-staff if they fall short? Learn how independent publishers and small- and medium-sized public libraries can work together to plan successful author events. This session will outline best practices, from planning and promoting the event to navigating author fees, book sales, and day-of logistics. In the aftermath of the most disruptive years of the pandemic, what does this mean for our students, and how can librarians respond? This webinar will look at the effects of anxiety on cognition and learning and explore the implications for library instruction and services.
