Good afternoon,

During the week of *October 17 – 23, 2021,* APLA is sponsoring* Games at
the Library* week which is also known as la semaine des *Jeux à*
* la bibliothèque* in French! Any time that week, libraries of all types in
Atlantic Canada are encouraged to host a game themed event of their choice
(game apps, scavenger hunts, video games, etc.). Events could be geared
towards specific age groups or the whole community. APLA's goal is to show
that libraries are places where people meet, learn, and have fun!

We understand that due to Covid-19, hosting a game themed event at your
library is still more challenging than ever before, so we have offered a
list of game ideas that can be played in smaller groups while maintaining
social distance, available on the website. We believe it is important, now
more than ever, to provide opportunities to community members to practice
self-care through fun experiences and to connect with community in safe
ways. Self-care and connection are two important mental health practices
during these unprecedented times.

This year, due to Covid-19, tally sheets and ballots will be sent no later
than *November 5, 2021*, by email to [log in to unmask]

Please enter your tally sheet information in the body of an email or fill
out and send as an attachment.* Please arrange to have library staff fill
out participant ballots in black pen during your event, and scan and attach
your ballots in the email, ensuring the scans are legible.*

All participants during APLA's Games at the Library week are eligible to
enter their names in the grand prize draw on* November 16, 2021*.
Participants can enter once for each type of game they play. There will be
one grand prize for all of Atlantic Canada. This year, the grand prize for
the Games at the Library draw will be an $175 online gift card for EB
Games, which can be used in store or on their website shop.

Please visit https://www.apla.ca/games for socially distanced game ideas
and downloadable materials. Nova Scotia Community College Graphic Design
students class of 2020 created editable posters (.pdf), small and large
logos for print (.jpeg) and social media posts (.tif) in both English and
French. Ballots and tally sheets are also available in the downloaded
materials. If there are difficulties accessing or using these files, or if
there are any questions at all, please contact [log in to unmask]

Stay tuned for social media and listserv updates in the coming weeks!
