Hello,

The Atlantic Provinces Library Association recognizes that anti-racism work
is qualitatively different from other kinds of work undertaken by our
members, and that we ask much of our members who are Black, Indigenous and
People of Colour (BIPOC) when we seek their guidance in the formation of an
anti-racism statement and action plan.

In acknowledgement, we would like to revise our call for such guidance,
originally posted on September 14th. We would now like to ask for an
initial consultation with interested BIPOC members. The consultation is
not to exceed one hour, for which we offer an honorarium of 100 CAD as well
as free registration to our virtual conference. Our wish to support all
members in advancing anti-racism in Atlantic Canada by engaging in advocacy
which has been directly informed by BIPOC members remains unchanged.

The APLA Executive recognizes that to be meaningful and have lasting
impact, anti-racism work must be reflected in our structures and budget.
We have asked the Advocacy Committee to prepare a 2021 budget request to
support the work suggested by the consultations above.

If you are interested in assisting the Association in its response, please
contact Louise White, APLA Advocacy Convenor, at [log in to unmask]<mailto:
