About the Session

The morning portion of this session will take you through the process of asking a clear clinical question and translating that question into a logical search in biomedical databases. PubMed will be used as an example. In the afternoon, we’ll focus on understanding the PRESS Guideline Statement and using it with colleagues to review the integrity of search strategies. There will be a break mid-day.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to confidently:

• Focus a clinical research question

• Translate a clinical research question into key search concepts

• Run searches using appropriate syntax and Boolean logic

• Understand and apply the PRESS Guideline Statement
