The School of Information Management is turning 50!

We invite you a Cocktail Reception to celebrate all things SIM. From our beginnings in 1969 as the School of Library Service in the Killam Library, with our first MLS graduates in 1971, we have grown to be a core part of the Faculty of Management. To this day, no other university in North America offers a similar interdisciplinary environment for education and research in Library and Information Science.

During the 1980's we revised our curriculum and became the School of Library and Information Studies, and the first Master of Library and Information Studies degrees were awarded in May 1987. The School continued to evolve through the decades, becoming the School of Information Management in 2005, recognizing the move to our new home in the Kenneth C. Rowe Management building, and the increased integration and collaboration within the Faculty. In 2008 we launched our second graduate programme, the Master of Information Management, graduating our first students in 2011. Most recently our MLIS degree became a MI - Master of Information to recognize the many places our degree can take you. Through all these changes we have remained the only ALA accredited program east of Quebec. SIM is small but mighty, with alumni in key positions across the country. We have much to celebrate!

In addition to food, cash bar, and entertainment, we will recall our key milestones, and celebrate the impact and legacy of our Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Students. Put a flag in the map to identify where your degree took you. We will also have space to look forward - and collectively envision what is next for our school.

We encourage competition - which class will bring the most alumni to our event?

For those of you who are not able to attend, please follow along on social media. Also stay tuned to SIM for more events and celebrations across the country.

Space is limited, RSVP here<>.
