Academic support providers have a problem.



Libraries, writing and study skills centres, and math help providers at universities are all faced with high demands throughout the academic year, and it isn’t always possible to provide each individual student with the help they need in a one-on-one setting.  However, research (and experience) has shown us that students are less and less receptive to the workshop and seminar styles of support sessions that would allow us to reach a broader audience more efficiently.



What can we do about it?



In an effort to understand the provider-controlled factors that impact student attendance at non-mandatory workshops and academic events, we are asking you, as support providers, to tell us about workshops and sessions that you have offered to your students.  In our survey (link below), we ask specific questions about one session or event that you have hosted.  We are interested in things like topic, duration, timing, target audience, advertisement and incentive.  With the results of this survey, we hope to identify some best practices to improve attendance at sessions and increase the number of students that we can support.



This survey should take between 15 and 20 minutes to complete.
