Position: Library Circulation & Archives Assistant
Department:  Library, Atlantic School of Theology, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Duration of Position:  Summer position starting June 5, 2017 and ending July 28th, 2017.  NOTE: This is a Nova Scotia, Summer Skills position. The successful applicant must be registered at a post-secondary institution and returning to post-secondary studies for the Fall of the current year.

Summary  of Position: Library Circulation & Archives Assistant is responsible for administering the organizing, storage, disposal and digitization of archived documents and audio visual materials.  Library Circulation & Archives Assistant also provides circulation desk service i.e. checking materials in and out of the library; helping patrons find and access the resources; answering and routing telephone calls.

Hours of Work:  This is a 35 hrs/wk term position
Hourly Rate:  $13.00

Position Description (includes but not limited to):
 Circulation  Services Responsibilities:
Contributes an average of 25 hrs/wk. to the Circulation desk
Answers basic reference questions and patron enquiries
Loans out library materials and processes returns using Aleph our Integrated Library System
Registers new patrons in Aleph

 Archives  Responsibilities:
Shelves library materials and maintains library materials in proper order
Assists with donation processing
Assists with archives and Special Collections projects

 Daily Operations  Responsibilities:
Assists in opening and closing of library
Answers Circulation and Reference Desk phones
Processes cash transactions

Position Qualifications:
Enrolled in post-secondary studies
Experience working in a library
Experience searching online library catalogues and journal databases
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
