The Government of Canada has launched
a Connect to Innovate program that will invest $500
million by 2021 to bring high-speed Internet to rural and remote communities in Canada.
From the Government of Canada’s website:
“Project funding will focus on building new backbone infrastructure in communities to provide connections to institutions like schools, hospitals and libraries. In addition, eligibility will include backbone capacity
upgrades and resiliency, as well as last-mile infrastructure projects to households and businesses where there are persistent connectivity gaps and a demonstrated need.”
