Librarian Position (60% - Continuing)

Holland College Library System

Waterfront Campus, Summerside, PE

Commencing January 2017

 

The Library Services Department is seeking a highly motivated LIBRARIAN to provide information services to students and staff at the Marine Centre, Waterfront Campus and Atlantic Police Academy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Provide the daily operational requirements of the Waterfront Campus library

·        Provide circulation services to the client group

·        Provide reference services using a variety of data sources (print, multimedia, online) and media

·        Assist clients with data searching techniques

·        Provide college wide document delivery/interlibrary loan service

·        Interpret and apply college-wide library services policies

·        Design and deliver information skills instructional programs to support curriculum

·        Assist instructors with collection development and gap analysis

·        Market library services to the user group

·        Design evaluative measures for library services

·        Hire, train and supervise library assistants.

 

Qualifications:

·        Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Library/Information Science and have a minimum of one year’s experience, preferably in an academic library.

·        Familiar with, and supportive of, new and emerging technologies in library services; comfortable in a computerized environment.

·        Strong oral and written communication skills.

·        Ability to promote contact and communication among students and faculty.

·        Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, to assist in the delivery of library services.

·        Ability to work with people of diverse educational and socio-cultural backgrounds.

·        Strong organizational skills in managing multiple activities and working under time constraints.

·        Demonstrated ability to learn new skills.

·        Experience in providing instruction in the access, use, and evaluation of library resources for individuals and groups.

·        Ability to promote and provide communication and advocacy of library services via appropriate campus tools (i.e.: campus orientations, quarterly faculty meetings, honors nights, email, Facebook, campus newsletters, posters etc.)

 

SALARY: Librarian II (Salary Range $55,150 – $69,020) – as per the Memorandum of Agreement between Holland College and the PEI Union of Public Sector Employees – Administrative and Support
