*apologies for cross-posting*

Good afternoon,

On behalf of One Book Nova Scotia (1BNS), I'm sending out a call for member recruitment for a variety of roles with this group. 1BNS is an initiative of Libraries Nova Scotia (LNS). The goal of 1BNS is to bring together communities across the province through the collective reading of one title. We aim to inspire conversation, foster community engagement, promote literacy, and instill a sense of togetherness through reading across Nova Scotia.

Not only does 1BNS work towards such positive and community-focused goals, 1BNS is also an incredibly fun and special group to be a part of. As a member of 1BNS, you have the opportunity to collaborate across borders through the public, government, and the academic library community.

The positions we are seeking to fill are:

Co-Chair (Public Library Representative), Steering Committee: Co-chairs oversee and coordinate the 1BNS campaign. Co-chairs also liaise with external stakeholders, plan Steering Committee meetings, and ensure deadlines and campaign benchmarks are met. We are seeking a representative from a public library. 2 year term.

Member, Public Library (excluding HPL, from a Region), Steering Committee: As a member of the Steering Committee, the public library representative attends meetings with the rest of the committee and aids in the coordination of the 1BNS campaign. We are seeking a public library representative from a Region (we currently have an HPL representative member). There is also the potential for this position to be Programming Chair. The Programming Chair coordinates and oversees the elements of the campaign that surround the book tour and author readings (travel, accommodations, etc.), programming ideas for libraries across the province, and any promotional events surrounding 1BNS. 2 year term.

Members, Programming Committee: Members of the Programming Committee will assist the Programming Chair in the coordination and planning of the book tour, author readings, and any other promotional events surrounding the title.

Members, Marketing & Promotion: Members of the Marketing and Promotions Committee aid the chair in building and delivering a social media campaign, develop signage and promotional pieces, and build up 1BNS branding and reach. We are seeking both regular member as well as a member to provide assistance with the 1BNS website (generating content and maintenance of the site).

If you are interested in any of the above positions, please contact Maggie Neilson at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

Thank you!

Best,
Maggie Neilson

"A library in the middle of a community is a cross between an emergency exit, a life raft and a festival. They are cathedrals of the mind; hospitals of the soul; theme parks of the imagination. On a cold, rainy island, they are the only sheltered public spaces where you are not a consumer, but a citizen, instead."
