Dear APLA Members:

As we continue to raise funds for the Alicho Wuriro Reading Room in Ethiopia, I am thrilled to report that the Harriet Irving Library (UNB) mini book sale raised $1,327.50 for the initiative!  I am indebted to my assistant Julia Roy who really got behind this, and to student assistant Alyssa Allen Gerwing who helped her.  Julia tells me this was a lot of fun to do, not too much work, and people were delighted to know their money was going to a worthy cause as they were buying up books on gardening and other popular topics.  We had three loaded book carts in the foyer of the library and the sale went for a week. 

And we’re not done yet.  GAL Committee member Samantha Neukomm is planning to raffle a Goody Basket at the APSEA (Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority) In-Service the week of May 20^th.   We will be selling GAL stickers at the conference, as always.  And who knows what else?
