Subject: Request to help a Finnish student with research

I am writing to follow up on a voice mail message I left at your association on November 26. I hope you can help me in getting Canadian participants to answer my survey.

My name is Heta Salmela and I'm a senior-year student of library and information science in Finland. At the moment I'm working on my final thesis, in which I compare Finnish and Canadian public libraries and librarians. To support my research I created a survey with 20 questions about librarians' education, working circumstances and thoughts about the future of public libraries and the work of the librarians.

The survey can be found at

I'm trying to reach librarians working in public libraries across Canada to answer the survey and hope you can help me. Could you please forward this email to any sites visited by public librarians in your province and ask for their help for my research? Answering the survey is perfectly confidential (I ask no names of the librarians or public libraries they work at) and I will use the information for research purpose only. Answering the survey takes about 15 minutes, but it's a great help for me.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

With the best regards,

Heta Salmela
