Duties: Reporting to the Manager of Client Services, the Librarian 2 acts as a member of the Client Services Team at the Nova Scotia Provincial Library (NSPL), which works with regional library boards, agencies within Communities, Culture and Heritage (CCH), and other governmental departments to develop and deliver appropriate and relevant services to Nova Scotians. This position identifies and develops strategic partnerships, special projects and service models regarding local community engagement, works collaboratively with community partners, libraries, museums and archives to identify service needs of targeted communities; as a member of the Archives, Museums and Libraries team aligns services with CCH and other government services, identifies grant opportunities that support community-led approaches and acts as a consultant to libraries and CCH on identified areas of responsibility. Qualifications: Your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the following qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree plus post-graduate degree in Library Science plus 2 years professional library experience. Demonstrated initiative, energy and motivation. Demonstrated experience in building effective community partnerships. Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and implement projects. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in teams, community settings, and one to one, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated broad and in-depth, knowledge of current and emerging trends and developments in public library service delivery. Ability to travel within the province. Fluency in French is an asset.
