SALARY RANGE: Group 4, $46,484 - $54,544

POSITION SUMMARY
The Library Technician is responsible for overseeing and maintaining library systems for serials, interlibrary loans, and bindery. The incumbent is a representative on the Novanet OPAC Group and represents NSCAD on matters related to the public catalogue, interlibrary loan processes and procedures. The incumbent also fills in for the Supervisor, Circulation on the Novanet Lending Group as required. The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing the circulation desk for approximately 4 to 16 hours per week and assists in the areas of technical services and cataloguing. The incumbent also ensures the implementation and application of adequate health and safety policies and procedures.
SPECIFICATIONS
A Library Technician Diploma combined with three to four years of library or related experience or equivalent education and experience is required.
The incumbent must have supervisory skills and accurate typing skills and knowledge of cataloguing and bibliographical systems. Previous cataloguing experience would be an asset. Computer skills are necessary. Experience working in a post secondary educational environment is an asset.
Very good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively are essential and well developed organizational and time management skills are required.
The incumbent must be capable of working in an environment with frequent interruptions. The incumbent must also be able to work in a shared office space.
The incumbent must have knowledge regarding health and safety issues. Due to the nature of the equipment and/or materials used, the incumbent must be attentive and responsive to potential safety hazards and take appropriate precautionary measures as required.
