Duties:
Reporting to the Legislative Librarian, the Systems and Technology
Manager is responsible for planning, developing and managing the
Legislative Library’s information systems and products designed to bring
information to the desktops of the users of the Legislative Library.
This includes the overall administration of the Legislature’s website
and the day to day management of the Library’s integrated library
system. This position must maintain the library’s online catalogue
according to international standards and be able to lead and train
technical services staff. This position provides expertise and advice on
database design and on the direction of information technology in the
Legislative Library.
 
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree plus post graduate degree in Library Science and 7
years of professional library experience or equivalent. Experience with
integrated library systems and website design and management is required
along with proven project management and leadership skills. A thorough
knowledge of indexing and other information retrieval processes as well
as library standards for database development is required. Must have in
depth experience with a variety of software applications including web
authoring software and must demonstrate a high level of creativity and
initiative. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are
required. Must be prepared to work in a non-partisan political
environment.
 
Experience with database, and photo-editing software as well as content
management systems would be considered an asset.
 
Offer of employment is contingent upon the successful candidate passing
appropriate background checks which may include one or all of the
following: Reference Checks, Criminal Background checks, Child Abuse
Registry, etc.
 
Pay Grade: PR 15
 
Salary Range: $58,295 - $71,060

This is a bargaining unit position initially restricted to current
civil service employees represented by the Nova Scotia Government
