Cape Breton University (CBU) is located on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia’s tourism centrepiece and home to rich Celtic, Mi’kmaq, and Acadian culture. CBU has a reputation for small class sizes, strong community involvement, and strong internal support for faculty research.

 

CBU invites applications for the full-time position of Librarian, at the rank of Librarian I/II, to commence January 2012. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the successful candidate will primarily be responsible for electronic resources including search engines, databases, content management tools, emerging technologies and components of integrated library systems such as journal resolvers and document delivery platforms. Working in a collaborative environment, duties will also include offering multi-disciplinary reference services and information literacy instruction. The regular work schedule includes one evening per week and one Saturday per month. Applicants must have an MLIS from an ALA accredited institution and preference will be given candidates with prior experience in an academic library.

 

The union affiliation of this position is with the Cape Breton University Faculty Association.
