The Term is for one academic year, with the possibility of renewal. The University of PEI is one of Canada’s leading liberal undergraduate institutions. Located in Charlottetown, it is a central educational, cultural and social institution in the City and the Province. The University has a population of 4,000 part-time and full-time students and offers traditional programs as well as many unique areas of study. We have a strong research record in a number of areas. Reporting to the University Librarian, your primary responsibilities will be providing in-person and virtual reference service in all disciplines. There may also be opportunities for providing other professional services, such as information literacy instruction via classes, consultations, and guides and tutorials, as well as participation in special projects. Applicants will have a degree from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent accreditation in library and information science. The successful candidate should possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, and have recent experience in providing reference services in an academic library setting. This is a term appointment with academic status. The position is part of the UPEI Faculty Association Bargaining Unit #1, and will be filled at the Librarian I Level, with salary pro-rated. It is expected that the appointment will take effect on or before September 1.
