The CACUL executive is seeking expressions of interest from those who would like to take on the challenge of moderating the Great Debate at the CLA 2011 conference.

The Great Debate has been a CLA conference highlight for 13 years.  It pits pairs of debaters against one another in a battle of wits to sway the audience’s opinion.  View past debate topics.

What does the moderator do?

·         Work with members of the CACUL executive to help select the topic for the 2011 Great Debate.

·         Identify and invite debaters, and act as liaison to them leading up to the conference.

·         Identify and recruit volunteers to help with counting and timing at the debate.

·         Moderate the debate at CLA 2011 – introduce the speakers, tabulate the votes, and announce the winners.

To be a moderator, you *must* be able to attend the CLA conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, May 25-28, 2011.  CACUL cannot provide support for travel or conference registration.
