Optional 1 day only: $70 members, $90 non-members This 2 day workshop will discuss audio-visual records -- their management, preservation and use. Day 1 will focus on audio formats (sound), Day 2 on visual records (moving images). It will present examples of the variety of formats (new & old), and discuss issues involved in digitization, selection for retention, providing access to patrons, and determining when a recording may have monetary value. Participants are encouraged to bring their questions and favourite “A-V mystery” item. Who should attend: Archivists, art gallery curators, librarians, museum curators, visual artists, and anyone who collects and preserves audio and visual formats.
