Angus L. Macdonald Library Librarian – Limited Term Position St. Francis Xavier University invites applications from qualified candidates for a 12- month limited term contract position in the Angus L. Macdonald Library, beginning January 1st, 2011 and ending December 31st, 2011. The Angus L. Macdonald Library serves one of Canada's top-ranked undergraduate educational institutions and sees its role as a proactive one of service and support for the academic success of its students and faculty. Description: Reporting to the University Librarian, the incumbent participates in all phases of reference and instruction services to students and faculty; performs collection development activities in assigned subject areas; works on the Reference Desk on regularly scheduled shifts, days, evenings & weekends, and performs other duties as may be assigned. The incumbent will be expected to be conversant with and participate in, emerging services and technologies. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A Master of Library and Information Studies (M.L.I.S.) Degree from an ALA accredited institution; 2. Knowledge of and experience with library resources and technologies; 3. Knowledge of and experience in the areas of collection development, teaching, and reference work an asset; 4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Rank and salary will be at the Librarian 1 level. This position falls under the St. Francis Xavier University Association of University Teachers.
