About Games@theLibrary
During the week of October 18-24, 2010, APLA is sponsoring Games@theLibrary Week.
What does this mean? Anytime during that week, we encourage all
libraries in Atlantic Canada, inlcuding public library branches of all
shapes and sizes and academic libraries, to host a "game themed" event.
Events can range from board games and chess, to trivia and
scavenger hunts, to video games. Events can be geared towards specific
groups or the whole community. Larger public libraries may consider
having separate events for kids, tweens & teens, or seniors. You are
limited only by your imagination and energy levels! Our goal is to show
that libraries are places where people meet, learn, and have fun.
Grand Prize: Nintendo Wii
One lucky winner in Atlantic Canada will be taking home a
Nintendo Wii gaming system! Be sure to register the participants from
your library's Games@theLibrary event(s) for their chance to win. Academic library participants are eligible this year!
Getting Started
Not sure what Games@theLibrary week is all about, or how to
get started? We have resources on our website (http://www.apla.ca/games) to help you with ideas and to promote
your event(s).
Download Publicity Materials
Libraries are welcome to use APLA's Games@theLibrary logo and other publicity materials however they wish. You can find these materials on our webpage. Please note: This year APLA is not requesting game donations from Hasbro Canada. Hasbro logo information will therefore not be required for posters, etc. ***Do you have a clever bookmark, poster, pamphlet, or other publicity materials you'd like to share? Contact Pam to discuss how you can share your work.
