Hi everyone,
Change is coming to the APLA Bulletin and with this in mind the next submission deadline has been
extended by a week to October 8, 2010.
The biggest change are new content guidelines (see
attached). The Bulletin is very news heavy in its current form. We
are trying to focus the content on issues of professional importance to
librarians, library staff and other information professionals. We are not
trying to become a stuffy academic journal but we are trying to limit the
amount of descriptive news. So what are we after?
·
Dynamic New Stories – 500 word descriptions
of events focusing on organization and outcomes (i.e. information to make it
possible for others to duplicate your event)
·
Feature Articles – 1500 words on a topic
of your choice
·
Book/Article Reviews - 500 words focusing on the
significance of the book to the APLA membership.
We will link to your library’s most recent newsletter
or twitter feed and accept traditional news items in point form.
The other big change is that all content for the
Bulletin should be sent to your Provincial VP by the submission deadline.
Please have your submissions to your Provincial VP by
Friday, October 8th.
If you have any questions or comments on the new guidelines
please don’t hesitate to get in touch with either of us
