St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for a 10-month limited term contract position in the Angus L. Macdonald Library to begin August 2010 and to finish May 31st, 2011.

 

The Library seeks an energetic, service-oriented individual to fill the position of Librarian (sabbatical replacement).  The successful candidate will be a competent and self-motivated person who works well with colleagues in a challenging and changing environment.

 

As the Library serving one of Canada's top-ranked undergraduate educational institutions, the Angus L. Macdonald Library sees its role as a proactive one of service and support for the academic success of its students and faculty.

 

Description: Reporting to the University Librarian and working closely with the Research Services Librarian, the incumbent is responsible for liaison with faculty and students, collection development, instruction in assigned disciplines, and reference services.  In addition, there will be opportunity to participate in various projects based on Library needs and the candidate’s qualifications.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from an ALA accredited institution;

2. Knowledge and experience with library resources and technologies;

3. Knowledge of and experience in the areas of collection development, teaching, and reference work an asset;

4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
