LIBRARY CIRCULATION ASSISTANT – Document Delivery, NSGEU position,
full-time

DUTIES:  The primary responsibilities of this position include
providing document delivery and circulation services to Library users. 
The Circulation Assistant – Document Delivery is responsible for
organizing document delivery, including assisting patrons with choosing
interlibrary loans, requesting material from specific locations and
accommodating requests from distance students.  This position is also
responsible for carrying out all functions of the Novanet circulation
module, including automated and manual control of regular and reserve
loans, processing circulation notices, handling financial transactions,
care and control of the Library’s audio /visual / copier equipment,
stack maintenance, maintaining Library user accounts, ID card
production, reference referrals, and  tracking held, recalled or missing
items.  This position assists with training and supervision of student
assistants and advises them on an ad hoc basis, and is often responsible
for Library opening and closing procedures, providing access to Library
resources, and other duties as assigned.  
 
QUALIFICATIONS:  This position requires at least one year of previous
work experience in a library, and an undergraduate degree and/or Library
Technician diploma.  The position requires someone who can combine
excellent interpersonal and communication skills with exceptional
customer service.  The incumbent must be flexible, have good judgement
and be able to switch tasks easily.  We require someone who works well
in a busy, fast-paced yet welcoming environment.  Experience with an
automated Library system (preferably ExLibris) is essential, as are good
keyboarding, Windows and MS Office skills.
