Scotia Community College is at a pivotal time in our history. NSCC is on a
path to 2011 to redevelop learning spaces, and launched a new Strategic
Plan in 2006. Already at the forefront of education innovation in Canada,
this plan uses that foundation to deliver on our goal of being a
national-calibre college.
Our Opportunity:
As the Director, Library Services, reporting to the Associate Vice
President of Academics, you will ensure that the College’s library service
meets the information needs of the students, staff, and faculty, and
contributes to learning outcomes through information literacy, both
directly and indirectly. You will also create planning for
substantial user and non-user education, liaison with individual faculty
and staff, Program Advisory Committees, and Faculty Working Groups, as well
as senior management of the College.
You will be accountable for achieving the balance between the centralized
service, and its benefits, and meeting the unique needs of individual
campus sites, which will include managing both the centralized operation,
and the geographically dispersed staff of librarians, library technicians
and library assistants.
Your Credentials:
·
You have a Master of Library Science/Information
Science from an ALA accredited institution, combined with a minimum of
seven years of occupational experience.

You have demonstrated strategic and long term
planning skills.
·
You are innovative, responsive and capable of
leading the college libraries within the electronic environment.
·
You have exceptional communication, decision-making,
and strategic and long term planning skills.
·
You have demonstrated capacity to build consensus
and work across diverse college departments.
