The regional library of Fisheries and Oceans Canada in St. John’s, NL (NFSF) will be temporarily closing to the public on May 15, 2008. This also closes off our collection for the purpose of interlibrary loans and reference services to other libraries and agencies for the next twelve months (or until further notice). All ILL requests after May 15, 2008, will not be honoured unless the article (issue and volume) is included in our list of electronic journal titles which comply with vendor agreements.
Recently a structural evaluation was completed on the library floor and the final report identified concerns over 'floor loading'. The report recommended that steps be taken immediately to 'de-load' the floor. De-loading would be accomplished by removing all library materials from the area. Plans are being developed to move the books from the library to an appropriate storage facility to ensure the integrity of the documents.
We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time period. Further announcements will be sent as required.
