The Library seeks an energetic, team-oriented Reference Librarian with excellent technological skills, a strong service orientation, and an aptitude for instruction to fill the 10-month term sabbatical leave replacement August 1, 2008 - May 31, 2009.  Duties may include:  provision of reference services to students, staff, and faculty, on a regular schedule, including one Sunday per month; delivery of customized library instruction sessions; conducting library orientations; conducting one-on-one in-depth “research consultations”; creating research guides and publications (print or electronic) on specific topics; assisting with other designated projects as appropriate, such as scheduling, library surveys, and/or collection development.

 

Qualifications: Candidates should hold an ALA-accredited Master of Library Science (or Library and Information Science) or equivalent.  Experience in the following areas would be an asset: reference services using print and electronic resources, library instruction and orientation, website development and/or maintenance, development and creation of research guides, development of digital collections or resources, experience in an academic library would be an asset.  Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Agreement with the MSVU Faculty Association.
