Position:          System Support Analyst


Incumbent:     Vacant


Reporting to:  Novanet Manager


General Responsibilities:  The System Support Analyst, reporting to the Novanet Manager, provides 1st line support to the consortia library staff for the Novanet integrated library system (ILS) and other technologies, as assigned. The current ILS is ALEPH by Ex Libris, running in a Solaris v. 9 environment with an Oracle v.10g database.


The System Support Analyst, in consultation with the Manager, provides user support as pertains to the ILS, including site visits, as well as phone and email support. S/he works with the Manager to maintain and configure the ILS, explore new initiatives, and ensure that the ILS users get the most from the ILS. Participation on various committees and working groups will be required. The position will require on call, after hours work.


Specific Duties:


  1. System support for ILS users
  2. Configuration, maintenance of ILS
  3. Maintenance of the Novanet web site and web OPAC
  4. Assist the manager as needed





1.      Completion of a library technician diploma or equivalent training and experience with 3 years library experience using an ILS

2.      Proven customer support skills

3.      CSS/HTML

4.      Experience working in a Unix environment


Preference will be give to candidates with the following:


1.      Experience providing 1st line software support

2.      Experience with an RDBMS

3.      PERL or similar scripting language

4.      XSL/XML

5.      Javascript
