Acadia University invites applications for a creative, dynamic and flexible
ACADEMIC LIBRARIAN to fill an 8
month contractual position which begins January 3,
2008.
Acadia is a primarily
undergraduate university which aims to integrate information technology into the
academic programs of the University.
Within this context, the Library is seeking a librarian to join our
professional team and collaborate in providing and developing information
services and learning environments using resources in all
formats.
Professional librarians at
Acadia are primarily responsible for teaching,
delivering information services, collection development, and faculty liaison in
assigned subject areas. In
addition, they co-ordinate library activities or provide professional expertise
in designated cross-disciplinary service areas (e.g. service to students in
continuing & distance education, service to students with disabilities,
reference services, data services, website development,
etc.)
Qualifications:
·
Masters degree from an
ALA-accredited library school (or equivalent).
·
Flexibility in adapting academic
qualifications and professional work experience to the Acadia environment.
·
Academic qualifications and/or
professional work experience in Earth & Environmental Science, Computer
Science, Mathematics & Statistics, Engineering, or in related disciplines
would be assets.
·
Candidates should
have:
- strong analytical,
communication and interpersonal skills,
- a commitment to working
with faculty and students,
- a creative approach to
teaching and problem-solving,
- experience with
electronic information resources,
- the ability to work
independently within the context of a collaborative environment.
Appointment to this position is at
the rank of Librarian I (current salary range
$43,038-$50,619).
