In this brave new world of the on-line environment, we need to rethink, or in some cases invent, our marketing strategies in this arena as well. Sarah will talk about practical ways for libraries to get the library out there where the users are on-line. There are dozens of quick, easy, and free ways to get your library listed on sites and services that your users already use on a regular basis. There are ways to make sure that the library is not isolated on-line, but rather integrated into your users' overall on-line experience. You'll leave this session with tools and a step-by-step checklist to take back to your library. Wednesday, Sept. 5th, 3-4pm ET (12-1pm PT) Exploring the Intersection of Libraries and Games with Scott Nicholson - 1 hour WEB CONFERENCE Scott will present the results from two surveys done to understand the current level of gaming in libraries. One survey was focused on understanding what portion of public libraries support gaming, done through a random selection of libraries. The other was an on-line survey designed to gather data on as many 2006 gaming programs as possible. The goal is to provide some baseline data upon which to better explore gaming and libraries. Thursday, Sept. 6, 3-4pm ET (12-1pm PT) Comic Books, Manga and More with Michael Pawuk - 1 hour AUDIO CONFERENCE Graphic novels have become a growing part of the collections of public libraries, schools and school libraries, bookstores, and more. Readers of all ages have embraced the format, and today there are an unprecedented variety of titles available for teens and older readers. This session will provide an overview of the realm of comics and graphic novels, and will hopefully whet your appetite to build and promote graphic novels in your library.
