E-Resources Assistant & Backup Evening & Weekend Circulation Supervisor 

Part-time (20 hours/week) NSGEU position

The Library is seeking a reliable, flexible, knowledgeable, motivated, organized and mature person to work evening/weekends in a service, training and supervisory role. This is an ideal position for someone wishing to work part time hours only. Flexibility in schedule is essential in this position and the schedule will vary on a two-week rotation. The position provides shift coverage for the two evening/weekend circulation supervisors during vacation and occasional time off. This position reports to the Systems Librarian and works closely with the Circulation supervisor.
Schedule (will vary): Sept.-April: Sat. 9am-6pm, Mon.& Tue. 5:00-11:00pm (20hrs)
May-August: Shifts alternate as follows: Sun.11am-6pm, Mon. 4-9pm, Tue. 5-9pm, Wed. 5-9pm (20 hrs), and on alternate weeks: Mon.-Thu. 4-9pm (20 hrs)
DUTIES: The primary responsibilities of this position include maintaining e-resources, working with the Acquisitions Assistant, Bibliographic Services Librarian, Collections Librarian, Systems Librarian and others to receive, catalogue and index e-resources in Novanet and Link Resolver. When working as backup evening/weekend supervisor duties include providing circulation services to library users, carrying out all functions of the Novanet circulation module, processing circulation notices, handling financial transactions, care and control of library audio-visual equipment, stack maintenance, tracking held, recalled or missing items. The incumbent supervises student assistants and advises them on an on-going basis, and is responsible for problem resolution or referral, Library opening and closing procedures, maintenance of Library security, and providing access to Library resources. The evening/weekend supervisor may be assigned other duties (assisting in preparing instructional material, organizing displays, etc.) as required.

Qualifications: 
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires at least one year previous work experience in a library. Supervisory and training experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have an undergraduate degree and/or Library technician diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must be able to exercise good judgement, organize work and work conscientiously without supervision. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills and adaptability to constant change in activity. Experience with an automated library system, Word and internet searching are required, as well as good keyboarding skills.

Classification: NSGEU * Level 6

Start Date: August 20, 2007

Salary Range: $31,270 per annum (pro rated for hours worked)
