A reminder that the deadline for submitting applications to the APLA
Memorial Award is approaching.

 

FAQ: How much money is available?

 

This varies from year to year.  The award amount is limited to the
annual interest received from the APLA Memorial Awards Fund and normally
up to $1,000 is available.  The APLA Memorial Awards Committee is
delighted to announce that they are able to give away just over $1,500
this year!  

 

Applications outlining study or research that contributes to the
development of an applicant's career and benefits the library profession
as a whole are encouraged.  Examples of recently funded projects
include: 

 

*	Investigating the reading interests of junior high school youth

*	Studying school housed libraries in Newfoundland and Labrador 
*	Examining electronic resource management in academic teaching
and research environments 
*	Exploring the attitudes and teaching methods of academic
instruction librarians in the Atlantic region 
*	Participating in the Library of Congress Serials Cataloguing
Cooperative Training Program 

 

All members, including previous applicants and award winners, are
invited to submit an application.  For more information, or to submit an
application including a letter outlining your proposal, a current
curriculum vitae, and estimated costs of your project to be received by
the March 31st, 2007 deadline, please contact:
