Cape Breton University invites applications for a full-time continuing Director of Library Services position to commence immediately following selection.

 

The Director of Library Services is responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation and evaluation of the services and programs provided by the Cape Breton University Library. The Director provides academic and administrative leadership, expertise and vision for the Cape Breton University Library.

 

Candidates must have an ALA-accredited MLS degree, and substantial experience in a university library, combined with library management experience. Additional expertise in an academic discipline is highly desirable; administrative experience in a library; familiarity with all aspects of library administration, preferably through service at the level of director or head librarian; ability to lead a library successfully through changing work environments; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to inspire trust and to support library staff in adapting to changes in their work; knowledge of appropriate resources--printed and electronic--and passion for developing, cultivating, providing access to, and preserving a primarily undergraduate collection; ability to coordinate the integration of current technologies into the existing array of library services; desire and ability to share in the educational mission and strategic planning of Cape Breton University.
