Duties: Under the direction of the Librarian, the Library Assistant participates in the provision of specialized support information services to departmental staff, staff of other provincial departments as well as representatives of all other levels of government, business & industry, academic community, institutions and the general public. Complex duties include the cataloguing and classifying of library materials while maintaining and troubleshooting the library's online catalogue; circulation of journals for head office and satellite offices; assisting with reference; copying reports and maps, daily financial operations of the unit - invoicing, ordering, deposit reports, tracking invoices and other duties as required. The variety and scope of these functions require specialized skills and training. Qualifications: Grade XII plus Community College diploma in Library Technology or equivalent experience. Candidates must be able to provide high quality client services and be willing to work as part of a team. Applicants must be highly motivated, possess a very high level of accuracy, have strong organizational and analytical skills and be able to work independently. Must have a demonstrated ability to use tools necessary to provide technical services. Knowledge of MARC cataloguing formats and familiarity with standard library bibliographic systems is essential.
