Start the New Year off right with funding assistance for your research or professional development opportunity with the APLA Memorial Award! All members, including previous applicants and Award winners, are invited to submit an application. Up to $1,000 is available to be awarded annually.


Study or research that contributes to the development of an applicant’s career and benefits the library profession as a whole are encouraged. Examples of recently funded projects include:


  • Investigating the reading interests of junior high school youth 
  • Studying school housed libraries in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Examining electronic resource management in academic teaching and research environments
  • Exploring the attitudes and teaching methods of academic instruction librarians in the Atlantic region
  • Participating in the Library of Congress Serials Cataloguing Cooperative Training Program
