Nova Scotia Community College is at a pivotal time in our history.  On
the heels of a comprehensive development plan where our campuses
experienced some dramatic changes with vibrant new learning spaces, NSCC
is launching a new five-year Strategic Plan. Already at the forefront of
education innovation in Canada, this plan uses that foundation to
deliver on our goal to be a national-calibre college.

OUR OPPORTUNITY:  The Library Assistant, Acquisitions, has overall
responsibility for ordering and maintaining financial control of
monographs and serials acquired for all Nova Scotia Community College
Libraries.  Under the direction of the Technical Services Librarian you
*verify bibliographic details and publication availability when ordering
information is incomplete, 
*search the online ordering system and input appropriate ordering
*communicate with librarians, vendors, publishers and distributors to
investigate problematic orders, 
*maintain a financial control system of committals and expenditures and
prepare financial reports, 
*reconcile invoices for shipments received with orders placed, 
*investigate and resolve situations related to incomplete or incorrect
*order, renew and cancel print serial subscriptions for all NSCC campus

YOUR CREDENTIALS:  You have a high school diploma, combined with a
minimum of two years experience in a library environment, or recognized
equivalencies.  Bookkeeping training and/or experience is desirable.
You are experienced in using the complete suite of Microsoft
applications, including MS Word and Excel.  Ideally, you have experience
in working in an electronic environment with library management systems,
vendors and suppliers. You thrive in a demanding, fast-paced
environment.  You are a creative self-starter with a strong work ethic
and a commitment to excellence.
