Chignecto-Central Regional School Board - Uniacke District School Librarian - Term Position Leave of Absence- February 2006 February 2007 - Hants East Area Part-time 17.5 hours per week, 10 months Competition # 06-04-42 Reporting to the Library Services Manager and the School Principal(s), the Librarian will be responsible for organizing, planning and managing the School Library within designated schools. A job description is available on the website. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Master of Library Science from an accredited library school. Additional Assets:· - Professional experience in a library setting; - Ability to apply in-depth subject knowledge acquired at the undergraduate level of education; - Ability to model for students and staff, strategies for locating, assessing and evaluating information - Knowledge of literature for children and/or young adults; - Experience modeling strategies for locating, assessing and evaluating information within and beyond the school library; - Demonstrated ability to create a functioning learning environment; - Ability to plan creatively and cooperatively for the continuing development of library service at the local and regional level; - Experience and enthusiasm for working with children and/or young adults; - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; - Ability to perform multi-tasks with accuracy and efficiency; - Effective interaction with all staff and students; - Ability to effectively lead a team as wells as work as a team player and provide support as required; - Ability to work independently in a position of trust.
