Myra Junyk is the former Program Co-ordinator of Language Arts and Library Services at the TCDSB and the past Chair of the English Language Arts Network of Ontario (ELAN). She has also worked as a teacher, department head, and principal. She holds a M. A. in History and a M. Ed in Educational Administration from OISE. Now working as a writer and literacy consultant, her primary interests lie in curriculum development and teacher training. She has published numerous articles on education, curriculum documents, as well as the book MEDIA MEANING. She has been involved throughout various levels of the Literacy Continuum. She was a writer and provincial trainer for the Early Reading Strategy. She was the co-ordinator of the TCDSB LITERACY IN THE MIDDLE GRADES initiative. She has also chaired the TCDSB Novel Kits Committee for the last three years which produced the document LITERATURE CIRCLES: Grades 3 to 10. As well, she has been a writer and a project manager for provincial Course Profiles in Media Studies and The Writer's Craft. Currently, she is participating in the Canadian Children's Book Centre Picture Book Selection Committee and the Red Maple Selection Committee. She is a reviewer for the online journal Canadian Materials, Canadian Children's Book News and Resource Links.
