The Nova Scotia Provincial Library will be hosting an audio conference
on "Partnering with Purpose" from the Education Institute of the
Partnership of Canadian library associations on January 12th. Maximize
your library's resources, gain access to more resources in your
community, promote services and reach new segments of the population
through partnerships with businesses, schools, and other nonprofit
organizations. This session provides a rationale for partnerships,
describes the organizational library structures needed, and shows you
how and with whom to form partnerships. The presenters are Janet
Crowther, Director of Community Partnership Development at the
Williamsburg Regional Library, Virginia and Barry Trott, Director of
Adult Services at the Williamsburg Regional Library.

The Benefits
Libraries are increasingly under pressure to go where their users are
and to step outside their doors to provide services and develop
resources. Partnering is an essential tool that libraries can use to
turn these pressures into opportunities. Participants will come away
from this program:
Understanding what the ambiguous term "partnering" means.
Knowing how to use partnering as a strategic tool.
Recognizing how to locate potential community partners.
Understanding the steps in choosing a partner and formalizing a
collaborative relationship.

Who Should Participate?
This program is aimed at librarians, library administrators, library
trustees, and members of the nonprofit community who are interested in
exploring the possibilities offered by formal collaborative
relationships.
