OUR OPPORTUNITY:  You will have the overall accountability for the delivery and evaluation of the Akerley Campus Library services, which includes library services to the temporary Downtown Halifax Site, under the general direction and supervision of the Metro Halifax Regional Librarian. You will work closely with faculty to identify, plan and where required, implement methods of integrating Library Services into Campus programs to maximize added value.  You will also evaluate the information needs of students and faculty, plan programs and services that address them and monitor quality of service.  You will as well, conduct formal and informal user education sessions with students, faculty and staff.  You will develop a resource collection suitable for campus requirements, promote the benefits of information literacy and provide reference assistance.  You will be primarily responsible for coordinating the development and delivery of library services to students taking online courses.

 

YOUR CREDENTIALS:  You have a Master of Library Science/Information Science from an ALA accredited university, combined with a minimum of one and a half years of occupational experience.   Ideally, your experience is in an academic environment.  You have a broad understanding of the variety of information resources and bibliographic instruction concepts and techniques applicable to Community College students and faculty.  You possess significant computer literacy and have the ability to interact effectively with all levels of College students, faculty and staff.  As a creative self-starter, you have been recognized for your strong work ethic and your commitment to excellence.
