Mount Saint Vincent University Library seeks an energetic, team-oriented librarian with excellent technological skills and a strong service orientation to fill a full-time faculty position as Systems Librarian commencing July 2006. The Library, with a collection of 500,000 volumes and over 24,000 electronic journals, provides a full range of on-campus and remote-access services to a community of 4,800 students and 500 employees. The Library is a member of the Novanet consortium.

Reporting to the University Librarian, the Systems Librarian is responsible for the following duties: planning and implementing new technological initiatives for the Library; designing and delivering information technology training to Library staff;       providing scheduled and ad hoc reference and instructional services to students, staff and faculty, including some evenings and weekends; maintaining and further developing the Library's capacity for virtual service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS:  An ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science and previous successful systems experience is required.  Candidates should possess the following:  extensive professional experience in working with information technology in a library setting, including networked systems and electronic information resources; advanced planning, supervisory and project management skills; strong working knowledge of emerging technologies, ILS and application software, networking and desktop computing; website development and management; previous successful reference service experience in an academic library; ability to work in a collegial, team-based environment.  This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
