Hello everyone:

This is the first notice to all APLA members to begin making your plans to attend APLA
2006 in Fredericton.

Pre-conference sessions will be held on Thursday, May 25 with the main conference
beginning on Friday, May 26 through to Sunday, May 28.  The conference site is the Delta
Fredericton overlooking the beautiful Saint John River.

The theme for the 2006 conference is "Make a Difference! Grow a Library / Ayez un
impact! Développez votre bibliothèque."


Our keynote speaker will be Stephen Lewis, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for
HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Stephen Lewis was recently named by TIME magazine as one of the 100 most influential
people in the world.  He is the author of "Race Against Time" and is this year's Massey


If you wish to submit a proposal for the conference, you should be aware that the
deadline for submissions is NOVEMBER 18th.

I am told by our Program Committee Chairs, John Neilson and Ella Nason, that some

Last but by no means least, we are in the process of putting together a conference
website which should be available shortly.

As the conference theme is all about growing libraries, we'd like to include JPG images
of libraries from around our region and beyond.  If you have an image of your library
