Sorry for the duplication. But this is an important issue, especially for the rural areas of the Atlantic region.

Subject: [cla] Needed: a few volunteers to help build the next generation ofthe Library Mail Rate processing system
Canada Post is changing how libraries will be required to produce shipping labels and pay for postage for packages shipped via the Library Mail Rate (Library Book Rate).
The new process will involve an on-line order entry system. Canada Post needs a few volunteers to validate and suggest enhancements to its model.
* have some experience in processing shipments using the Library Book Rate;
* are interested in helping build a tool you and your colleagues will be using;
* are available Thursday, July 7, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time with a telephone and Internet access;
please submit your name, e-mail address and the size of your library (rough estimate of your library’s total expenditures for a year*) to CLA Executive Director Don Butcher, [log in to unmask] as soon as possible. CLA has only four or five positions to fill, so not all volunteers will necessarily be able to participate at this point.
(* Canada Post needs to be able to serve the whole range of libraries, so we need to supply volunteers from small, mid-size and large libraries).
CLA and Canada Post apologize for the short notice. More information on the new system will be made public shortly.
