This is an ideal position for someone wishing to work part time hours only. Flexibility in schedule is essential in this position. The two evening/weekend circulation supervisors are expected to accommodate shifts for one another during vacation and occasional time off. This position reports to the Circulation supervisor. Scheduled hours: Sept.-April: Sat. 9am-6pm, Wed. & Thurs. 4:30- 10:30pm (20hrs) May-August: Shifts alternate as follows: Sun.11am-6pm, Mon. 4-9pm, Tue. 5-9pm, Wed. 5-9pm (20 hrs), and on alternate weeks: Mon.-Thu. 4-9pm (20 hrs) The primary responsibilities of this position include providing circulation services to library users, carrying out all functions of the Novanet circulation module, including automated and manual control of regular and reserve loans, processing circulation notices, handling financial transactions, assigning study carrels, care and control of library audio-visual equipment, stack maintenance, developing automated files for library users, tracking held, recalled or missing items. The incumbent trains and supervises student assistants and advises them on an on-going basis, and is responsible for problem resolution or referral, Library opening and closing procedures, maintenance of Library security, and providing access to Library resources. The evening/weekend supervisor may be assigned other duties (assisting in preparing instructional material, organizing displays, etc.) as required. Qualifications: This position requires at least one year previous work experience in a library. Supervisory and training experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have an undergraduate degree and/or Library technician diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must be able to exercise good judgement, organize work and work conscientiously without supervision. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills and adaptability to constant change in activity. Experience with an automated library system, Word and internet searching are required, as well as good keyboarding skills.
