The Atlantic Provinces Library Association honours
The Atlantic Provinces Library Association (APLA) bestowed
its greatest prize, the Merit Award, on Michael Colborne, Acting Provincial
Librarian
and Coordinator of User Services at the
Michael Colborne started his library career as a library
assistant after obtaining his undergraduate degree at
graduate of the
of positions at the Dartmouth Regional Library, the Halifax
City Regional Library, and the Halifax Regional Library and most recently the
Provincial Library. He has been instrumental in the
Professional Partnering Programme offered by
Library Association. He has just been named the
regional developer for the
Institute. Nominator and APLA President, Jennifer
Richard describes Michael as "a leader, a mentor to young librarians, an
advocate for
libraries and community access programmes, and a friend to
the library community".
The Atlantic Provinces Library Association represents three
hundred librarians, library technicians and library support workers in the four
