AUDIO CONFERENCE ON FINDING & USING STATISTICS RESOURCES ON THE WEB

An audio conference on "Getting Started in Statistics: An Introduction to Finding and Using Web Resources" with instructor Rita Vine will be hosted at the Nova Scotia Provincial Library on June 2nd.  The Internet is a great source of statistics and data, much of it free. In this hour-long audio conference, you will discover the most important sources of web-based statistics, including major statistics portals and government statistics sites and you will learn how to find statistics and data produced by associations as well as some tricks for using advanced features of search engines to find statistics.

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
An audio conference accompanied by a handout. There will be time for questions at the end.

Instructor Biography
Rita Vine is Canada's best-known Internet search trainer. She is the co-founder of Workingfaster.com, which helps professionals break through the clutter of the Internet and access information that matters. Rita has been a professional librarian for over 20 years, and has held positions at the University of Calgary and University of Toronto libraries. She is also the lead selector of the Search Portfolio, a web site selection service that help libraries deliver the best of the free web to their staff and users. Rita is a sought-after keynote and conference speaker and continues to bring her unique brand of energy, humor and commitment to the topic of web research.
