DUTIES:
This position provides expertise in the application of new technologies to virtual public library service, information management and resource sharing. The incumbent represents the Provincial Library and Nova Scotia  public libraries in partnerships relating to virtual public library service development and leverages his/her technical expertise and information management skills to develop other partnerships. The position works with Library and Archives Canada on resource sharing issues and promotes resource sharing activities by Nova Scotia institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Post graduate degree from an ALA-accredited program of library and information studies with a minimum of 2 years professional experience, preferably in a public library setting or working with public libraries.  The successful candidate will have technical experience with current and emerging library information technologies, experience with MARC records and integrated library systems as the foundation of virtual library services, and a keen interest in new technologies as they relate to online library services.   Experience with web design is required.  Strong communication and  negotiation skills are essential, as well as experience in organizing and conducting meetings, public speaking and making presentations, and building partnerships.  Knowledge of the Nova Scotia public library system and a working knowledge of French are assets.


CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY RANGE:         PR 12 ($1,616.49 - $1,961.36 bi-weekly)
