University Libraries is seeking an experienced, forward-looking and
enthusiastic individual to serve as Information Literacy Coordinator.
Possessing a strong service ethic, the Information Literacy Coordinator,
in collaboration with librarians, library staff, and departmental
teaching faculty, is responsible for the coordination of information
literacy initiatives at Dalhousie. The Information Literacy Coordinator
works in partnership with librarians and other library staff to develop
responsive and innovative instruction programs that reflect the
Libraries’ Strategic Directions and the diverse needs of Dalhousie
University students. The Information Literacy Coordinator reports to the
Associate University Librarian and meets as required with Library
Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED ABILITIES:
An MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited institution or comparable
educational qualifications, demonstrated teaching ability and knowledge
of and a strong commitment to ACRL Information Literacy Competency
Standards is required. Desired qualifications include instructional
experience as well as knowledge of current post-secondary instructional
and educational technologies; relevant experience in information literacy
program development in an academic library; and a record of active
participation in the academic library profession.
AVAILABILITY OF THE POSITION:
The position is available January 1, 2005, subject to final budget
approval. This is a full-time probationary appointment. Rank, level and
salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience and are subject
to the terms of the Dalhousie Faculty Association Collective
Agreement.
