In this six-week on-line course, you will learn how to build a solid repertoire of good quality teen-focussed resources, and empower teens to search and use the Web wisely. WHO SHOULD ATTEND Librarians and teachers who work with teens and wish to expand their knowledge of Web resources. Basic Web knowledge is recommended. KEY TOPICS YOU WILL EXPLORE ON-LINE € How teens find information € Criteria for selecting Web sites for teens € How to use search tools for teens € Training teens on wise web searching € Do filters help or hinder teens? METHOD OF INSTRUCTION Each week, you'll receive an email with the lesson for that week, plus practice exercises that will help you work through the week's sources and reinforce your learning. A web-based bulletin board will enable you and other participants to ask question of the instructor and to provide on-line feedback about problems incurred. The course will include a teleconference call with you and your fellow participants, hosted by the instructor, to give advice and clarify the learning experience.
