Library staff are increasingly called upon not only to find information for their patrons, but to also teach their patrons skills related to finding, evaluating, and using information. This teleconference explores the expanded roles of librarians in today's modern libraries. Listen to the panel discuss changes in the library profession and find out what "blended librarianship" is. SPEAKERS: Steven Bell, Director, Paul J. Gutman Library, Philadelphia University John Shank, Instructional Design Librarian and Director of the Center for Learning Technologies, Berks-Lehigh Valley College, Pennsylvania State University David Reifsnyder, teaches theatre and New Media-related classes at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois Anne Kozak, Director, Thomas Ford Memorial Library, Western Springs, Illinois Linda Slusar, cofounder of the Soaring to Excellence Teleconferences and coordinator of the Library Technical Assistants program, College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, Illinois Following the broadcast part of the session, Tanja Harrison, Academic Librarian, Vaughan Memorial Library, Acadia University, will demonstrate and speak about the tutorial "You Quote It, You Note It!" which librarians at Acadia University have created in cooperation with the Acadia Institute for Teaching and Technology and Laura Jantek , Virtual Library Manager, Halifax Public Libraries will speak about HPL's award winning IT Skills Project. These projects are excellent examples of the expanding role of the librarian in the area of instruction.
